Residents appealed to the Quezon City government for more aid as their communities were placed under a granular lockdown amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to Maki Pulido’s report on “24 Oras” on Tuesday, 68 areas in the city are under a granular lockdown.
Graciano Ricamara, a resident of Barangay Commonwealth, said he could not go to work due to the granular lockdown imposed on his area.
“Talagang wala pong pambayad. Ang totoo po, halos dalawang buwan na kaming hindi makabayad ng ilaw at tubig,” he said.
(We don’t have any money to pay our bills. To be honest, we haven’t been able to pay our electricity and water bills for almost two months.)
Meanwhile, Cayetano dela Cruz asked the city government for additional aid as the ones given to them are not enough for his family of five.
The city government said it was currently working on the matter.
“Mabigat siya talaga. I brought this up sa aming Metro Manila mayors council meeting and ang sabi nila i-submit namin sa NEDA para we can make a case towards helping LGUs,” Mayor Joy Belmonte said.
(It’s really difficult. I brought this up during the Metro Manila mayors council meeting and they said we should submit the matter with NEDA so we can make a case towards helping LGUs.)
