
Twelve nuns at the Carmel of Mary, Star of the Sea Monastery in Tanay, Rizal have contracted the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
According to Jun Veneracion’s report on “24 Oras” on Tuesday, Carmelite Monastery spiritual adviser Fr. Miguel Condes said some of the nuns were asymptomatic, while some experienced mild symptoms.
All the nuns were fully vaccinated against COVID-19 except one who is undergoing chemotherapy.
They are currently under quarantine inside the monastery.
Last week, nine nuns of the Religious of the Virgin Mary aged 70 to 98 years died due to COVID-19, the Catholics Bishops Conference of the Philippines said.—Ma. Angelica Garcia/LDF, GMA News
