A married couple are mulling to file a complaint to the police after they were lured into a “labas-casa” car theft scheme by their own relative.
The couple, Helen and Hector, were in need of money because their father is suffering from lung cancer while their child needs therapy.
Hector’s cousin then offered them P40,000 in exchange of helping get a car loan.
Being desperate for funds, Hector agreed to give his documents and sign papers for the purchase of a sports utility vehicle.
“Pinsang buo ko po siya may tiwala ako na hindi niya ko lolokohin, (He is my cousin and I trust that he won’t fool me.),” Hector said over Emil Sumangil’s “24 Oras” report.
Hector met with his cousin, who was accompanied by several persons, for the signing of papers.
He asked for other documents and the check but his cousin could not give his demands.
Hector was also not aware that he signed a deed of sale. His personal documents and information were also provided for the said car loan.
After receiving the P40,000 cash, Hector did not see his cousin anymore.
The married couple then decided that they will also consult the Philippine National Police Highway Patrol Group on the matter.
Instead of being relieved from financial issues, Hector’s problem worsened because of being involved in the car theft scheme.
“Nagbigay sa akin ng stress, may tumatawag, nagre-remind regarding sa payment,” said Hector, adding that he never got to use the SUV.
( I was stressed out, someone has been calling me, reminding me of the payment.)
Helen is also worried that Hector’s cousin and cohorts could be syndicates.
“Baka sindikato. ‘Yung buhay namin nalagay sa panganib,” she said.
