The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) has yet to submit its recommendations to replace Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Police General Guillermo Eleazar, who will retire next month.
“I have not yet submitted my recommended list for the next Chief PNP,” DILG Secretary Eduardo Año told GMA News Online on Friday.
Año said he would submit his recommendations to President Rodrigo Duterte on the last week of October.
“Seniority, merit and service reputation will be my basis on coming up with a recommendation,” he said.
Eleazar took over the helm of the PNP in May following the retirement of Police General Debold Sinas.
The sixth PNP chief under the Duterte administration, Eleazar will retire on November 13 when he reaches the age of 56. —KBK, GMA News
