
Several locations around the country suffered floods over the weekend as a due to the intertropical convergence zone and a low pressure area.
According to a Balitanghali report by Darlene Cay, 600 residents were evacuated due to chest high floods in 10 barangays in Davao City.
While the flood had already subsided, most families opted to stay in the evacuation center while their houses were being cleaned.
Motorists in National Highway, Negros Oriental report having been stranded in flood for more than an hour due to flooding.
Nearby creeks and rivers reportedly overflowed due to the rainfall, and debris found blocking sewage drainage was said to have caused the high-level flooding.
Similar cases have been reported as floodwater makes its way into homes and establishments in Puerto Galera, Oriental Mindoro.
An overflowing dam also causes flooding in different areas in Aklan as a result of the continuous rainfall.
Meanwhile, authorities assist in clearing operations after landslides occur as a result of the heavy rainfall in Davao del Sur and Banga.
PAGASA reports state that the low pressure area has now become a storm, but has made its way outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility.
A new tropical storm, however, is being observed in the Pacific Ocean 1715 kilometers east of Central Luzon.
The Metraweather rainfall forecast reports that heavy to intense rain will still continue nationwide within the next few hours. -NB, GMA News
