600 minors vaccinated against COVID-19 in Bohol

TAGBILARAN CITY – At least 600 children  were inoculated on Tuesday as the city government has resumed its vaccination for children aged 12 to 17 years old.

All children with or without comorbidity were vaccinated using Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine at two vaccination sites – Tagbilaran City Central School and Tagbilaran City College.

Members of the Bohol Child Health Care Advocates were at the sites to evaluate minors with comorbidities before they would be inoculated.

Louel Rotilles, city vaccine coordinator, said parents or guardians were required to present the children’s health certificates and identification cards to be accommodated.

If the parent is outside the country, an authorization or parent’s consent is needed.

“There will be no walk-ins. They have to register on the Facebook page of ‘Asenso Pa More Tagbilaran.’ And we will call them for their schedule,” said Rotilles.

Last Nov. 5, the Tagbilaran City Government  vaccinated at least 600 minors.

Since last month, Mayor John Geesnell Yap II has been encouraging eligible minors to register  to get vaccinated against the virus.

“We want to go beyond 100 percent. But the biggest challenge is the vaccination hesitancy of some residents. So, we would like to encourage everyone to get vaccinated so that we can end the pandemic we are facing now and let us be part of the solution,” Yap said.

According to Yap, Tagbilaran has the highest vaccination rate in Central Visayas or 64.09% have been vaccinated and herd immunity has been achieved.

Yap said the city government is helping to vaccinate non-Tagbilaran residents which is conducted in the malls.

Meanwhile, at least 450 adults received their Moderna vaccine administered in a mall on the same day .

The vaccination for minors and adults would continue on Wednesday, Nov. 10. — BAP, GMA News
