The Department of Justice and the Bureau of Corrections have reached a possible solution to the wall construction in Muntinlupa City, pending the conformity of the BuCor director general, Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra said Monday.
Guevarra said he met with BuCor spokesperson Gabriel Chaclag on Monday as BuCor director general Undersecretary Gerald Bantag was reportedly indisposed.
“DG Bantag was reportedly indisposed. BuCor spox Gabby Chaclag attended instead,” Guevarra said in a message to reporters.
“We agreed on a possible solution to the road problem, but spox Gabby would have to secure DG Bantag’s conformity first,” he added.
On Saturday, the DOJ ordered the BuCor to stop its construction of a wall in Barangay Poblacion that blocked the access of residents from the Katarungan Village 1 and 2 up to the city proper.
Guevarra said the DOJ was not notified by the BuCor of its plans.
