A magnitude 5.1 earthquake hit the town of Burgos in Ilocos Norte late Friday evening, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) reported.
The quake, which was tectonic in origin with a depth of 20 kilometers, occurred at 11:05 p.m. southeast of Burgos town.
The earthquake was also felt in the following areas:
- Intensity V – Adams, Bacarra, Bangui, Burgos, City of Laoag, Nueva Era, Pagudpud, Vintar and Pasuquin, Ilocos Norte
- Intensity IV – Badoc, Banna, City of Batac, Carasi, Currimao, Dingras, Dumalneg, Marcos, Paoay, Piddig, Pinili, Sarrat and San Nicolas, Ilocos Norte; Sinait and City of Vigan, Ilocos Sur; Lagangilang, Licuan-Baay and Tineg, Abra;
- Intensity III – Bantay, Lidlidda, Santa Catalina and San Vicente, Ilocos Sur; Solsona, Ilocos Norte; Bontoc, Mountain Province
- Intensity II – Santa, Ilocos Sur; Buguias and Mankayan, Benguet; Sagada, Mountain Province
- Intensity I – Bantay, Ilocos Sur; Sablan, Benguet
