A passenger on a commercial flight caught on her cellphone camera a green laser light being pointed at the aircraft from the ground.
According to a report on State of the Nation, the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines said pointing a laser beam or a high-intensity light at aircraft is prohibited.
Doing so is punishable by three years in prison or a fine of up to P500,000.
Lasers pointed at airplanes may cause distraction, disruption, and disorientation.
Eric Inocencio, a physics professor, said it was clear that someone pointed a laser gun at the airplane.
He suggested that the government keep watch over their sale as they are readily available online. —NB, GMA Integrated News
