Man beaten up in Manila, relatives retaliate vs. attacker

A closed-circuit television (CCTV) caught a scuffle between two groups who were said to have a long-standing grudge against each other in Manila.

According to Emil Sumangil’s report on “24 Oras,” a group of five men onboard two motorcyles followed two men on bicycles along Barangay 719 Zone 78 in Leveriza, Malate and suddenly started beating one of them.

The CCTV caught the five men punching, kicking and hitting the victim with an object.

The group immediately fled, but one of them was left when he came back for one of their motorcycles.

He was cornered by relatives of the victims who witnessed the incident and by some residents who took revenge by beating him.

“Nagkaroon sila ng dating alitan, ‘yan nilusob yung nakita nila akala nila nag-iisa. Sinakal nila pagkatapos sakalin pinukpok pa,” said barangay chairman Jaime Adriano.

The brawl stopped when barangay officials arrived. Both groups were taken to the barangay hall and later agreed not to file a complaint. They did not issue a statement.—Sherylin Untalan/LDF, GMA News
